Kent Whiting, Executive Consultant

Kent has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare and retail drug industries.  Kent’s focus at FluidEdge has been on working with clients to help them to develop the Information Technology (IT) Strategy, provide interim CIO leadership and help our clients negotiate their technology contracts and service levels.

Prior to joining FluidEdge Consulting, Kent was the Chief Information Officer at Capital BlueCross in Harrisburg, PA. Kent joined Capital BlueCross in 2001, initially responsible for the IT aspects of creating the company’s full-service health plan capabilities.

Kent was responsible for all IT activities related to maintaining Capital BlueCross' commercial business, its Keystone Health Plan Central health maintenance organization, and its Medicare business. During his tenure, Kent was responsible for the replacement of the core processing system, care management platform, customer relationship management, and data warehouse as well as many surrounding systems. Under his leadership, the web portal was updated to better serve constituents.

Before joining Capital BlueCross, Whiting was the Senior Vice President, Information Systems, for Rite Aid Corporation in Harrisburg, Pa. Whiting has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Elizabethtown College, and his Master of Science degree in Information Systems from The Pennsylvania State University.

He served as Vice-Chair of the Penn State Harrisburg Information Technology Advisory Board, is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania eHealth Initiative, and was a member of the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania Board of Directors.
